Jay Johansen became an activist for homeless rights when he began photographing
and conversing with the homeless people in the San Francisco area. Each painting,
print or giclee is imbued with the complex emotion surrounding the lost people found
in every city. Some are preachers, some seek refuge, some have decided to live life
free from the constraints of contemporary living. Portions of each print or giclee
sale benefit homeless organizations. Each beautiful painting is both a visually
stunning piece of art, and a statement about every person who has ever felt lost
in their homeland.
